Regan & Ryan Hardy are brothers and co-owners of The L & R Group. You’ll see “Ryker Strong” on all the company vehicles, and this is why:
On September 12th, 2017 Regan’s son, Ryker, was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma of the femur, and they discovered the cancer had also metastasized to his lungs. At the time of diagnosis, he was 11 years old and had just begun 6th grade.
Ryker soon began chemo, which required him to be admitted to the hospital 3 out of 4 weeks each month. His chemo treatments began in September 2017 and ended in May of 2018.
To complicate matters, Ryker broke his cancerous leg in late September and had to wear an enormous cast for 2 months while awaiting surgery. Walkers, wheelchairs and crutches became a part of his everyday life.
On December 6th, 2017 Ryker had limb salvage surgery to remove the tumor in his leg. The surgery was successful, but the cancer rollercoaster was still moving full speed ahead. Infections, anxiety and pain became his constant companion. However, he has many good days. Through all this hardship Ryker still retains his amazing sense of humor. He often spooks the nurses by pretending to sleep then letting a playful “boo” when they get close to him.
On June 26th, 2018 the tumor board met and recommended double lung surgery at a specialized facility. A few hours later, Ryker had a terrible fall which broke his leg in 6 places. There is a long road ahead, but to be “Ryker Strong” means to treasure your family, fight through the pain, and keep your sense of humor.
